Today was awesome. I was thinking it was going to be kind of upsetting to be away from my family on this day, and I am not saying I didn't miss you guys a lot, but my teachers and friends made today a Thanksgiving I will never forget. My teacher before had mentioned that her American students always got a bit upset around Thanksgiving time, so she proposed a potluck for during one of our classes. This was neat cause of all of the international students had never had a thanksgiving so they were excited to participate, and they brought in food from wherever they were from. This was the first time I had ever had sushi on Thanksgiving. The day before, Becca and I had literally spent the entire day working on this damn Irish soup, from a cookbook I bought in Ireland. We hit many problems with the ingredients.. Problems like: they just dont have any of this stuff in France. So we were kind of winging it. What was originally supposed to be apple and parsnip soup, turned out to be apple, potato, carrot, and parsnip soup, with spices of our choosing. IT WAS DELICIOUS. And the whole class thought so as well. I'm not even making it up this time. It was exciting. We are officially the masters of soup.
Making the Soup!!!
My class!
So after our huuuuge lunch I went home to nap. Some of the kids in our USAC group organized a Thanksgiving potluck with all of the USAC kids as well as other exchange kids and some French students. I was over cooking so I took soda. People need something to drink. It was awesome because they were able to get a turkey and people made mashed potatoes, stuffing, veggies, fruit salad, pasta salad and a bunch of desserts, yes, including pumpkin pie. It was a huge success. There were sooo many people but everyone was able to get some food. It was such a wonderful time with all of my friends. Everyone had a fantastic time.
